Cotswold District Council have decided to remove the option of paying by cash in all Cotswold District car parks.

November 18, 2022

Cotswold District Council have decided to remove the option of paying by cash in all Cotswold District car parks this year to protect our environment and reduce crime.

The change will come in from 12th December 2022 in Church Street, West Street and The Chippings car parks, Tetbury.

Car park users will be able to use our payment system, PaybyPhone, which is used across the country and allows people to pay by making a quick phone call or by using the app. The pay and display machines remain in place and will continue to take card payment meaning users will still have many payment options.

This change will reduce the carbon footprint by stopping the 20,000 miles driven every year to collect cash. It will also stop theft and vandalism experienced in the cash payment machines that have cost over 100k in the last 6 years.
